OLDS, Alta. - The Ambrose University Lions used a strong second quarter and a consistent three-point presence to down the Olds College Broncos 93-80 at the Ralph Klein Centre on Friday.

The game started out tight on both sides, with both teams trading baskets in the early going. However, a late flurry from the Lions (3-0) pushed them to a 23-20 lead through 10 minutes of play.

The tide turned in favour of the Lions in the second, as they seemingly couldn't miss from beyond the arc, using a 29-11 run to open up a 56-37 lead going into halftime.

The third quarter was evenly matched on both sides, as the Lions kept the Broncos at bay, taking a 75-55 lead into the fourth.

Olds College (0-3) found a spark early in the final frame, as a trio of three-pointers from Karan Gill cut the Broncos' deficit to 11. However, the Lions snuffed out any hopes of a comeback with a strong finish.

Riley Cordwell was the Player of the Game for the Lions, while Jouvon Edison earned the honour for the Broncos.

Olds and Ambrose will complete the doubleheader tomorrow at 8 p.m. in Olds.
