Keyano Huskies came out with an offence with a muscle and a defense with a hustle as the Lakeland College Rustlers took nearly five minutes to score their first basket at Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre's Canadian National Resources Ltd. Gymnasium.

Rustlers coach Sheray Thomas needed an early timeout to regroup after a Chris Oppong walk-in layup made it 12-2 Huskies.

Rustlers slowly started a run of their own with Abdusalam Figaro torching the Huskies for 10 points in the opening quarter to keep his team close 17-22.

Huskies Stefan Jovic had some highlight reel moves in the opening 10 minutes with a half dunk on a put back followed by a big time In Your Face  block.

Some solid defense by centre Jack Redden and quicksilver moves by Oppong, led the host team to a 33-19 edge with the Rustlers calling timeout with 6:04 remaining until the half.

Rustlers picked up the D to outscore the Huskies 16-12 in the remaining time to go into halftime down 45-35.

Huskies offence settled into a smooth run for the third period as they scored an impressive 37 points to go up 82-62.

With 10 minutes remaining, could they reach their season high of 112 when they beat The Kings University Eagles 112-75 at home October 13, 2018.

Huskies coach Jeremy Wielenga went with five nonstarters at 4:51 up 94-66

They would come up short of a new season scoring high with a 103 - 81 verdict.

No. 11 Chris Oppong with 17 points, nine assists and eight rebounds was Huskies Player of the Game. Dante Dinter and D'Aubre Doucette chipped in with 18 points each.
