Downtown Freddie Brown

For 37 years the shout out for Keyano Huskies Sports Information Officer and Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Sports Writer Curtis J. Phillips has been, "Downtown Freddie Brown" when a player – male or female – hits a long three-point shot in basketball.

That may have to change now, after Keyano Huskies guard Dante Dinter (2nd year, Tofield, Alberta) swished six three-pointers for a game high 21 points in leading his team over the Lakeland College Rustlers 85-69 tonight at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre's Canadian National Resources Ltd. Gymnasium.

Huskies dominated the boards in the opening 20 minutes with a 20-9 comparison.

Hustle by 6-foot-7 rookie forward Glenroy Rolle (1st year, Bahamas) in the final minute of the first half gave the Huskies a 46-29 edge.

Sloppy play and foul trouble allowed the Rustlers to outscore the Huskies 19-16 in the third period.

Huskies' Nicholas McDonald (2nd year, Mississauga, Ontario) enthusiasm allowed the Huskies to go on a fourth quarter run with the Rustlers calling timeout down 69-52.

Dinter was Huskies Player of the Game.

Teammate Chris Oppong (5th year, Toronto Ontario) had an all-around game with 18 points, seven assists and three rebounds. Like Dinter and Oppong, D'Aubre Doucette (4th year, San Diego California) and Stefan Jovic (2nd year Mississauga, Ontario) also logged 40 minutes.

Doucette, a 6-foot-1 guard, had 16 points, three steals, five assists and four boards.

Jovic, a 6-foot-5 forward, had eight points, three steals and a team high 11 rebounds.

Rustlers Player of the Game was Artavis Halliday with 17 points and six rebounds.
