Wolves Host Keyano Huskies for a Weekend Series

The Wolves take on the Keyano Huskies from Fort McMurray. They opened the weekend series in front of a busy crowd. The Wolves opened the scoring by #8 Liam O'Hallahan. Keyano responded with one from behind the arch and then Liam O'Hallahan drained his second hoop. Lots of great action from both sides, with lots of buckets being scored. Jonathan Mueller drained a 3 pointer with under 4 minutes to go to put the Wolves up 16-15. With less then 3 minutes to play #14 Darian Goertzen drains a 3 pointer to put the Wolves up 20-15. The Huskies to try to close the gap before the buzzer, and come close, Wolves up by 3 points, 23-20.

The second quarter started by #5 D'Aubre Doucette hitting a 3 point shot to tie the game at 23. The game stay tied well into the 3rd minute of the quarter. #11 Michael Shelast final broke the dry spell and put the Wolves up by 2. Next play #11 Shelast hit a 3 point shot to put the Wolves up by 5, 28-23. Both teams battled at both ends, the Wolves pulled away, and went up 11 at the half, 40-29.

The crowd was entertained at half time by the talented Gymniks Cheer team. They demonstrated their cheer skills and athleticism to a busy crowd. The Wolves held the Huskies to 10 points in the third quarter. The Wolves put 21 on the board to lead the Huskies 61-39 after 3 quarters.

The fourth final quarter seen the Huskies wanting to claw their way back. With 8 minutes left on the clock the Huskies are down 18. The Wolves kept fighting and got ahead by 27. Game ended 87-60 Wolves.

The Mr. Mikes Player of the Game for the GPRC Wolves was #11 Michael Shelast and for the Keyano Huskies #5 D'Aubre Doucette.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 3pm.
