Camrose, AB - The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team blew out The King University Eagles by a score of 106-69 at home to secure a much needed victory as they head towards their last few games in the season.
The Vikings opened the first quarter with a 9 point lead as they shot really well and defended their rim to allow only 13 points through. However the Eagles came back with a strong 2nd quarter with 23 points and created a half time score of 45-36 with The Vikings maintaining their 9 point lead into the half.
Using their first half momentum the Vikings broke out with a strong 3rd quarter with 26 points to just 16 points scored by the Eagles. This helped The Vikings extend their lead to 71-52 as the game seemed to be tilting in their favour at this point. The fourth quarter was no different as the Vikings put on a shooting clinic with several three pointers and great defensive efforts to win the quarter 35-17 and the game 106-69.
The player of the game for the visiting Eagles was number 12, Joshua Hamilton from Cold Lake, Alberta who put up 20 points and 3 rebounds. And the player of the game for the Vikings was number 11, Austin Bruollete from Leduc, Alberta who put up 24 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals in the win.
