MBB | Kodiaks Sweep a Pair of Wins at Home

Jan. 25, 2020 - The Lethbridge College Kodiaks hosted the Red Deer Kings again in this back to back home series. After a gritty game Friday night, the Kodiaks looked to maintain more composure on the court to protect their winning streak.

The Kodiaks had a strong start Saturday afternoon as they put up ten quick points while the Kings had yet to put one point up. Kodiaks captain, Chris Thomson was getting up for rebounds, sinking three's and keeping an assertive presence on the floor for his team. With this energy, Lethbridge dictated the first quarter with a score of 22-13.

Lethbridge continued to pour on the pressure as second year Trey Bohne sunk a beautiful three pointer, meanwhile on defence, first year Brock Dewsbery blocked what would have been a nice layup for Red Deer. The boys entered halftime with a score of 46-28.

As the game progressed, the Kings started to come at the Kodiaks with a little more passion and grit. However, Lethbridge remained calm and second year, Jaxon Davison claimed his own on the court by making smart passes as well as scoring the right baskets.

Moving into the fourth quarter it seemed as though the Kodiaks athletes were each coming into their own strides. Jackson Kasko continued to attack the net, making big layups for his team regardless of being battered down by the Kings defence. His plays earned him foul shots and points in a crucial fourth quarter. On the other side of the court, Tyronn King, who was the player of the game for Red Deer the night before, was strong on the offence for his squad. King was able to sink multiple baskets when being fully guarded.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks played a strong offensive game which improved their record to 15-0. The Kodiaks will hit the road this Thursday to face off against the Sait Trojans who are only one spot behind Lethbridge in the South Division.
