Brock Dewsbery Honoured as 2019-20 ACAC Men’s Basketball South Rookie of the Year & Player of the Year

Camrose, AB (March 4, 2020) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Brock Dewsbery of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks has been selected as the 2019-20 ACAC Men's South Rookie of the Year sponsored by Vereburn Medical Supplies and Player of the Year sponsored by Basketball Alberta. 

Dewsbery has helped lead the Kodiaks to a 20-1 record and along the way owning a 49.5% FG, 46.8% from the 3 point line, 80.9% FT, 21.3 points a game, 7.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and scoring a total of 425 points during the regular season which puts him in the top 5 of the conference. 

"His biggest attribute is his competitiveness and passion for the game," says head coach Ryan Heggie. "Despite leading our team in stats he wants to get better. He is always willing to admit when he could've done better and takes responsibility for his actions. What else do you want in a leader and Brock is stepping into that role as a first-year student-athlete!" 

"What an amazing first year for Brock and the Kodiaks men's basketball program," says Todd Caughlin the manager of Kodiaks Athletics. "Being voted into this award by the conference shows testament to the type of student-athlete Brock is and how he contributes to the program!" 

"As a first-year player, from day one Brock was determined to make an impact," says Ryan Heggie, head coach of the Kodiaks. "He has accomplished this by showing up daily and competing hard. He has really embraced his rookie year with enthusiasm, passion and respect for what is known as "the process" in the Kodiaks house!" 

"Whenever one of our Kodiaks student-athletes earns an award like this we are proud of what they have done," says Todd Caughlin. Manager of Kodiaks Athletics. "Brock has definitely brought a style of up-tempo play that has helped his team earn a spot back into the playoff picture."

Brock is a first-year General studies student-athlete at Lethbridge College and is from Raymond, AB. 

These prestigious awards were presented to Brock Dewsbery at the 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championship held on Wednesday, March 4 at the University of Alberta-Augustana.
