Thunder Win Thriller Over Eagles In Exhibition Home Debut

The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder men's basketball team continued their exhibition schedule and played their first game of the season at home as they took on The King's University Eagles in Saturday night action. A closely fought contest, the Thunder were able to take a late lead and hang on as they defeated the Eagles 103-98.

The first quarter was a tightly contested back and forth affair, which showed in the score as both teams were tied 29-29 after the first period. The second quarter was a different story however, as the Eagles took control of the game, and were able to take a lead behind 10 points from #10 Logan Den Oudsten 49-42. The Thunder were able to turn the tables in the third quarter, as # 14 Alex MacLean exploded for 10 points in the third quarter as the Thunder fought back to take a 73-71 lead. The fourth quarter was still a tightly contested affair, but the Thunder were able to hang on for the 103-98 win. After the game, third year Thunder forward Carsten Ritter spoke about his team's game: "we didn't play our best, but we managed to pull it out in the end."

The Thunder continue their exhibition schedule as they travel to The King's University for a rematch with the Eagles next Saturday.
