MBB| Kodiaks Secure First at-home Win Going 1-1 Against RDP Kings

November 14, 2021- Kodiaks came to their first game on home turf in almost 2 years with a vengeance after losing to the RDP Kings on Friday night.

Kodiaks newcomer #12 Paycen Blackmore came out strong, getting 9 points and leading scoring in the first quarter for the Kodiaks. Fifth-year #2 Orin Porter Jr. did what he does best, facilitating plays and keeping his team level, while also picking up 6 points of his own.  The Kodiaks played hard and kept the lead at 25-19 going into the second quarter.

#15 Dawson Atwood was the breakaway star of the second quarter, securing 6 points for the Kodiaks of their 13 scored during the quarter. Once again #2 Orin Porter Jr. kept his consistency with another 6 points, while the opposing RDP Kings scored 15 points that quarter, all between 2 of their players; #5 Tyronn King and #23 Brett Hochhausen.

Kodiaks evened the scoring out with points being scattered amongst the team in the third quarter, whilst trying to fend off the ever troubling handles from RDP point guard #5 Tyronn King, who scored 11 points in the third. RDP #12 Eduardo Crespo put up a couple crazy dunks thanks to his quick hands-on defence, causing more trouble for the Kodiaks as the Kings led the scoring in the third 25 points to 22.

Kodiaks were on fire in the fourth with #2 Orin Porter Jr, #9 Jack-Henry Fox-Gray, #12 Paycen Blackmore each getting 6 points a-piece. The RDP Kings fought hard to try and surpass the Kodiaks, with a tight score nearing the final 4 minutes thanks to a total 30 points scored by #5 Tyronn King throughout the game. But thanks to the grit of the young Kodiaks team, they pulled the lead right back up in the end to win the game 83-74.
