Ooks Defeat the Thunder

On Friday night, the NAIT Ooks men's basketball team faced off against the Concordia Thunder. It was a close game between the two men's teams, both offensively and defensively. Even though the odds were stacked against them, the Ooks managed to take home the win 86-78.

The Ooks won the tipoff and scored the first basket of the game to start the game off, thanks to Daniel Gann. The Ooks were hungry for the ball as they worked hard for interceptions and both defensive and offensive rebounds.

Concordia Thunder was right there with the Ooks as they kept the game close.

The Ooks finished the first quarter with a lead of 21-19.

The second quarter starts strong for the Ooks as Griffin Lorenz hits a 3-pointer. Both teams play a solid defensive game. The Ooks' intense defensive pressure leads to the Thunder making mistakes such as a 5-second violation, double-dribbling, and travelling.

Although the Thunder made a few mistakes, they were still a threat on the court.

At the end of the half, the Ooks and Thunder have a tied score of 39-39.

The Ooks' strong defense continues to create numerous scoring opportunities from either rebounding or successful interceptions.

The third quarter ends with a score of 61-57 in favour of the Ooks. The momentum from the rest of the game continues in the fourth for both teams.

The Ooks were able to use the clock to their advantage as they used the complete 24 seconds more than once. The Ooks were able to hold their lead and win the game 86-78.

ACAC's players of the game were #5, Vishal Dhillon from the Ooks, and #8, Liam O'Hallahan from the Thunder. Vishal Dhillon was hot from the 3-point line as he scored five 3s for his team.
