MBB| RDP Kings Advance to Final 4 After Defeating Kodiaks 86-76.

Kodiaks looked to conquer Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and advance in the playoff race in quarterfinal matchup.

 

Both the Kodiaks and the Kings had slow starts to the game and low offensive productivity. Kodiaks Orin Porter. Jr Picked up 6 points to lead the team in scoring in the quarter. The Kings were able to produce more offense resulting in a lead for Red Deer which they were able to hold onto closing the first 10 minutes of play leading 14-10.

 

The Kodiaks struggled in their own end allowing the Kings to pick up on their costly mistakes. However, the Kodiaks were able to make up for things offensively with big improvement from the previous quarter. Kodiaks Leon Schenker picked up 8 points in the quarter to help the Kodiaks push to get back in the game. Red Deer's Tyronn King was nothing but danger to the Kodiaks as he picked up 11 points in the quarter to keep the Kings ahead. The Kings led 38-31 headed into halftime.

 

The Kodiaks caught traction right away to start the 2nd half allowing them to get back right back into the game. Kodiaks Paycen Blackmore and Orin Porter. Jr were nothing but destructive in the offensive zone combining for 18 points in the 3rd quarter getting the Kodiaks back in front after a long battle back. In the final minute of the quarter, the Kings managed to pick up a few crucial points to regain the lead closing out the 3rd quarter with a 61-59 lead.

 

The Kodiaks struggled to get things moving to start the 4th allowing Red Deer to pick up a handful of points to kickstart the quarter. The Kodiaks were doing everything they could, trying to find something that would work to get them back in the game. The Kings refused to let off the throttle running up the scoreboard resulting in the Kings coming out on top after an intense finish with a 86-76 final score.
