Men's Basketball Huskies cruise past Eagles for weekend sweep

The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team cruised to a 103-68 victory Saturday at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre against The King's University Eagles, moving their record to 12-0 on the season. 

Sean-Michael Clancey poured in 23 points as the Huskies shot 53.4 percent (31-58) from the field in the contest, including 10 three-point shots on 22 attempts. They also made good on 31 of 37 free throw attempts.

After opening the game with a 33-12 first quarter, the Huskies grew their lead to 35 at the half with a 60-25 score. The Eagles attempted to charge back with 23 points in the third quarter, but a 31-point effort by the Huskies put the comeback bid to bed. The Eagles did close out the game strong, winning the fourth quarter 20-12 to close out the game.

Taliik Ross posted 20 points while Omeechi Williams had 18 and Jusci Thompson added 15 to round out a quartet of double-digit scorers. Ross added 12 rebounds, all defensive, to earn the double-double. 

Clancey made all eight of the free throw opportunites he had while Williams and Thompson each knocked down a pair of three-point shots each. 

Joshua Hamilton led the Eagles with 14 points while Logan Den Oudsten had 10 to account for the Eagles' top two scorers in the match. 

Ross earned Player of the Game honours for the Huskies while Tristan Auburn-Nyang garnered the honours for the Eagles in the match.
