Lightning Fall to Kodiaks in Tough Fought Game

Lightning came out strong to start the first quarter and over powered the Kodiaks ending with a 4 point lead, 26 to 22. The second quarter was just as close, as the Kodiaks came out strong and kept it close exchanging basket for basket with the Lightning. The aggressive play from both teams had each coach using their timeouts for the half. While the Lightning stayed strong the Kodiaks overcame the deficit and beat the Lightning in the second quarter by 5 points, making the halftime score to favor the Kodiaks by 1 point going into the third. Lightning leading scorer number 3 Caleb Jipp ended the half with 15 points and 1 steals. While the Kodiaks number 8 Christopher Schlauwitz led his time with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Kodiaks came out firing to start the third quarter extending their lead by 6 in the first few minutes of play. The Lightning fought back but the Kodiaks maintained their lead and ended the third quarter 69 to 62. The Lightning fought hard in the fourth and brought the game within two points making it a tough fight to the end. The Lightning however could not overcome the deficit of the Kodiaks lead and ended the game 93 to 84 for the Kodiaks. The Lightning's record extends to 8 – 5. The players of the game were number 3 Caleb Jipp with 23 points and 2 rebounds for the Lightning. While the Kodiaks number 12 Paycen Blackmore ends with 17 points and 4 rebounds. The Lightning's next home game is January 27th against the Medicine Hat Rattlers, tip off at 8pm.
