Briercrest Prepares to Welcome ACAC’s Top Men’s Basketball Teams

Edmonton, AB (February 24, 2025) - The Briercrest Clippers are proud to host the 2025 ACAC Men’s Basketball Championship from February 27 – March 1, 2025. After finishing first in the South Division, the Clippers have earned the right to bring the championship to Caronport, SK, where the top men’s teams from across the conference will battle for the ACAC title and TWO tickets to the 2025 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship in Saint-Laurent, QC.

The championship hosts dominated the regular season, closing out with a 13-game win streak and an impressive 19-1 record. Fifth-year standout Jude Shepherd-Hills led the way, averaging 16.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The Clippers will rely on their veteran leadership as they look to capture the championship on home court.

Among the top contenders, St. Mary’s Lightning (S2, 15-6) bring a high-powered offence, featuring the top two scorers in the conference. Former CCAA Player of the Year Caleb Jipp finished the season averaging 22.0 points per game, with teammate Brock Dewsbery close behind at 21.7 points per game. The SAIT Trojans (S3) and Lethbridge Kodiaks (S4) enter the playoffs tied at 26 points with identical 13-8 records. The Trojans bring a rich championship history with six ACAC titles since 2017, while the Kodiaks have clinched a playoff spot every year since 2020.

In the North Division, Keyano Huskies (N1, 17-3) secured the top spot for the fifth consecutive season and look to defend their 2024 ACAC title with an experienced and determined squad. Meanwhile, the NAIT Ooks (N2) and Lakeland Rustlers (N3) both finished with 28 points (14-6 records). NAIT impressed with their young core, led by first-year standout Peter Aluk-Deng (13.5 PPG) and Omar Farah (12.9 PPG). The Lakeland Rustlers, who captured bronze last season, are eager to turn that into gold. Rounding out the North playoff teams is Concordia Thunder (N4, 10-10), led by top performers Yaadvir Dhaliwal (18.8 PPG) and O'Ryan Wallace (16.8 PPG), with Milton Lendein adding 12.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Briercrest Clippers are excited to welcome the ACAC’s top men’s basketball programs to Caronport for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of elite competition. With the support of their dedicated community, they are eager to make this championship a memorable experience for athletes, fans, and the entire ACAC basketball community.
