Ooks defeat Thunder for 5th place

Day 3 of the ACAC Men's Basketball Championship began with a spirited 5th place game between two North Division rivals, the Concordia Thunder (8-12) and the NAIT Ooks (13-7).

First quarter

Concordia won the jump ball and set the tone of the game, pushing through fatigue with several fast break points. The score was close at the end of the quarter, 19-17 for the Thunder.

More energy came from both teams into the second, with NAIT going much faster into their offence. A mix of perimeter and down low play gave the Ooks momentum, with their bench helping to provide energy on the bench, reflecting onto the court. Fifth year Satchel Benjamin ended the quarter with 10 points for NAIT, who were leading 43-28.

Concordia brought energy after the halftime,  but the Ooks maintained their lead. Fourth quarter and the Thunder fought for a comeback, bringing the score within 10 points, but NAIT held on for the 78-70 victory.

Player of the game for Concordia Thunder was Shak Jama with 14 points and for the NAIT Ooks, Benjamin with 16 points.
