Ooks stay on top with win over Vikings

CAMROSE, AB - In a close match up, the NAIT Ooks defeat the Augustana Vikings 3-2, Friday night at Encana Arena.

With the win the Ooks improve to 12-1-0-0 on the season and extend their win streak to four games, while the Vikings hold on to a single point lead over the Briercrest Clippers for fifth in the standings.

The Ooks offensive success came from Jaynen Rissling, Eric Lacombe, and Taner Miller all with one goal each, while Tyler Robertson tallied two assists. Jordan Papirny had 29 saves in the win.

Across the ice, the Vikings Kyle Ford and Tanner Manz both scored in the loss, while netminder Daniel Moody had 31 saves on the night.

With three unanswered goals, the Ooks jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead through just over 20 minutes of play before Ford got the Vikings on the board, 3-1 midway through the second frame before adding a second with under 10 minutes to go in the third period. However, the Vikings penalty trouble would cost them, as they fall 3-2.

Looking ahead both teams will meet again tomorrow night in Edmonton, as the Ooks host at 6 PM. Catch all the action on ACACtv.
