After going down two goals early, the Olds College Broncos pushed back to take a 5-4 lead into halftime, then held on for a narrow 6-5 victory over the Prairie College Pilots at Frank Grisdale Hall on Wednesday, which served as the opening match for the ACAC South Men's Futsal Regional for both teams.
Diego Forno scored twice to pace the Broncos (1-0-0), while Aminja Abbe, Pedro Noschang, Valentin Kirchner and player of the game Zayne Boughazale each added singles for Olds College; Alex Ewanchuk picked up the win in goal.
For Prairie College (0-1-0), it was Patrick Pozzatti driving the bus with four goals to earn player of the game honours for the Pilots, with Luiz Castanho scoring the other Prairie College goal; Nathanel Ip was the keeper of record for the Pilots.
From here, both teams will now travel to Medicine Hat for the remainder of the ACAC South Regional; the Broncos will battle the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Friday at 4:45 p.m., while the Pilots will go head-to-head with the SAIT Trojans at 7:15 p.m.
