Rattlers defeat Ooks for gold
Lloydminster, AB - The 2025 ACAC Men's Futsal Championship Final was a star-studded affair, featuring the Players of the Year from both the North and South in Peter Jones (NAIT) and Joao Cintra (MHC). The Medicine Hat College Rattlers were looking to avenge themselves after losing in the final last year, while the NAIT Ooks were eager to capitalize on an impressive season.
The energy was high in the gym to start off the affair, with both Rattlers and Ooks faithful filling the stands. Early saves from Rattlers' Stefan Vrska were crucial in allowing Medicine Hat to orchestrate their game plan. Cintra opened up the scoring for the Rattlers at 10:45, igniting the crowd. Cintra had a chance to extend the lead, but Parys Ona MacArthur, fourth-year goalkeeper for the Ooks, held the game at 1-0 heading into halftime.
Cintra continued to showcase why he is among the best in the conference, netting his second goal at 18:52. The Rattlers' experience in high-stakes games did not go unnoticed, as they were able to dictate the tempo throughout the beginning of the second half. Peter Jones continued to make a valiant effort in igniting the Ooks' offence, and ultimately was successful at 9:40. Joao Nascimento countered back with a goal of his own at 6:43, and Tata Mugisha capped off the Rattlers' scoring with a goal at 2:45. Jones added in another score for the Ooks at 1:50, but ultimately the efforts from NAIT fell short. With a 4-2 victory, the Medicine Hat College Rattlers are your 2025 ACAC Men's Futsal Champions!
Peter Jones and Joao Cintra were awarded Player of the Game honours for the NAIT Ooks and Medicine Hat Rattlers, respectively.
Jones was also named a Tournament All-Star, along with teammate Jameson Kiezik. Goalkeeper, Stefan Vrska and Joao Nascimento were awarded honours for the Rattlers.
The tournament MVP was awarded to Joao Cintra of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers.
