Lakeland Rustlers Secure Semi-Final Spot with 3-2 Victory Over Olds Broncos

Lloydminster, AB - In an electrifying and fast-paced game at the ACAC Men's Futsal Championships, the Lakeland Rustlers faced the team that had eliminated them a year ago, the Olds College Broncos. With both teams playing an intense game, the gym was filled with energy as the Rustlers had the support of their home crowd on their side.

Olds took an early lead at the 13:39 mark as Simon Puddicombe found the back of the net. However, the Rustlers were then forced to deal with a foul and a yellow card, putting them under pressure. The Rustlers' offensive efforts finally paid off as Josh Malin capitalized on a steal and scored in a 1-on-2 situation, tying the game 1-1 with 7 minutes left in the first half.

Olds took the lead again just minutes before the break with a stunning shot by Pedro Noschang, putting them up 2-1 with only 3 minutes remaining. Lakeland continued to pressure Olds' defense in the final moments of the half, but the Broncos held their ground, and the first half ended with Olds in the lead.

The second half started with Lakeland struggling to break through Olds' defensive pressure. After a few fouls from both sides, Lakeland found their equalizer at the 22-minute mark, as Vinicius Da Silva scored to tie the game 2-2. The crowd erupted, fueling the Rustlers as they pushed for more.

As the game progressed, both teams continued to battle, and Olds picked up several fouls, including a yellow card. With 13:30 remaining, an assist from Malin to Nathan Tran resulted in a go-ahead goal for the Rustlers, making it 3-2.

Olds didn't go down without a fight. With just over 5 minutes left, the Broncos put on a high press, but a penalty kick awarded to Tran missed high, keeping the game within reach.

With 2:13 left on the clock, Olds called a timeout, looking to make one last push for the equalizer. The gym was deafening with chants and cheers as Olds tried to break through Lakeland's lockdown defense. Simon Puddicombe had a chance to tie the game, but his shot hit the crossbar with just over a minute left. Another crossbar shot followed, keeping the game in Lakeland's favor.

The player of the game for the Olds Broncos went to Noschang, while Da Silva earned Player of the Game for the Rustlers.
