The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) men's soccer matchup between the SAIT Trojans and the Olds College Broncos did not disappoint.
In an intense and physical battle, the Trojans came out on top 5-3 Sunday afternoon at Cohos Commons Field.
SAIT's Armando Garcia opened the scoring seven minutes into the match to give the home team a 1-0 lead.
Dean Northover scored the second goal of the game on a diving effort to put a header past the goalkeeper off a beautiful pass from Johnny Hutchinson. Northover celebrated the goal with a cartwheel into a backflip that sent the crowd into hysterics.
The Trojans ended the first half with a 2-0 lead.
Shortly into the beginning of the second half, Jake Walmsley made it 3-0 Trojans.
Two minutes later, Olds College's Mario Fabian Gromenida finally solved the Trojans to cut the lead to 3-1.
Minutes later, the Trojans regained their three-goal lead when Northover scored his second of the game to make the score 4-1.
"I found space today and my teammates were finding me, which is nice and I was able to put in in the net," said Northover after the game.
Walmsley scored his second of the game soon after on an impressive re-direct header to increase the lead to 5-1.
Gromenida scored the last two goals for the Broncos to earn himself a hattrick - the last coming on a penalty kick with no time remaining.
The Trojans improve to 5-0 and the Broncos move to 2-3-1 on the season.
The ACAC Players of the Game were Johnny Hutchinson from the Trojans and Nicolas Depot from the Broncos.
