Men's Soccer Program Scores First Ever Home Goal, However, Lose Tight Contest To Kings

In their first ever ACAC Men's Soccer Home Opener, the Lions came out firing after a special cermony seeing members of past itorations of the Ambrose Lions, including members of the CBC and NUC schools come reconnect and be recognized for their contributions to both the Mens and Womens soccer programs. The Lions capitalized early on the excitment in the air, only taking 11 minutes for Austin Carter and the Lions to score their first ever home goal! Unfortunatly, their lead did not last long as just 7 minutes later the Hugo Jansen and Gabriel Queiroz combined to score an equalizer to level the score at 1. Right before halftime the RDC Kings forward Colin Purnell took advantage Lions goaltender, Jared Zimmer getting pulled out of net due to significant pressure by the Kings brining their lead to 2-1 at the half. Starting th second half the RDC Kings continued to take advantage of the momentum they gained after scoring a late goal in the first half and controlled the time of possesion in the second half. The Ambrose Lions put up a good defense, but in the 81st minute player 5, Gabriel Queiroz, from the RDC Kings assisted player 18, Pedro Humberto, in scoring another goal for their team, ultimatly putting the game out of reach. Not to be denied, in the 88 minute Matthew Wideman, scored, turning the atmosphere into a frenzy as the Lions pushed hard to be able to equal the score. The final whisle sounded minutes later, ending the Lions chance for a memorable comeback. The final score of the game was 3-2 for the RDC Kings. Player of the game for the Ambrose Lions was #7, Austin Carter and for the RDC Kings was #5, Gabriel Queiroz.
