Trojans defeat Rustlers 2-1

The SAIT Trojans defeated the Lakeland Rustlers 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Lloydminster. 

The Trojans controlled the ball for much of the first half, with both teams having scoring chances. The Rustlers would open the scoring with a goal by Mackenzie Longpre in the 22nd minute, giving them the lead. The Rustlers lead wouldn't last long, with the Trojans tying the score at 1 in the 25th minute on a goal by Brad Atherton. At the half, the Rustlers and Trojans remained tied at 1. 

The Trojans once again took control of the ball early on in the second half. The Trojans nearly scored, but the goal was called back on offside. The Trojans would score minutes later on a penalty shot by Dean Northover in the 64th minute. The physicality increased as the game went on, with the Rustlers fighting hard to tie the score. The Rustlers Troy Trench had a good scoring opportunity, but the shot was just high. The Trojans held on for the 2-1 win.
