LACOMBE, Alta. - The CCAA's top-ranked team continued its winning ways, as the SAIT Trojans toppled the Olds College Broncos 5-1 at MEGlobal Athletic Park on Friday, a makeup date from the match originally scheduled for Oct. 6.
Nicholas Aravena and Joseph Lambele each scored twice for the Trojans (11-0-0), while John Hutchinson also tallied for SAIT. David Miguez was relatively untested in the Trojan goal, making three saves for the victory.
Abu Bangura had the lone goal for the Broncos (2-8-1), while David Rodriguez was busy, making seven saves for Olds College.
SAIT controlled the play from the opening kickoff, outshooting the Broncos 18-6.
Hutchinson got the scoring started for the Trojans, blasting a shot home from about 30 yards out, beating Rodriguez high to put SAIT up one through 15 minutes of play.
Aravena extended SAIT's advantage just before halftime, taking a Jake Walmsley pass and beating Rodriguez to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
After another Aravena marker made it 3-0, Lambele struck twice in a span of 13 minutes to put the match even further out of reach.
Bangura converted a penalty kick for the Broncos in the 90th minute to spoil Miguez's bid for a clean sheet, but it was too little, too late.
