Thunder battles Rustlers in a tough and physical game – Thunder stood their ground

EDMONTON, AB (October 15th, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the Lakeland Rustlers in a hard-fought battle.

Right from the starting whistle we know this game was going to be full of intensity. Both teams played incredibly aggressive with a lot of deep passes continuously penetrating the defensive zone. Thunder puts 1 on the board in the 18^th minute, a fantastic goal scored by #11 Jacob Kwizera. Shortly after, the team was hungry in the offensive zone, #9 Emmanuel Mboli scores 2 minutes after thanks to Kwizera creating several great opportunities and landing the assist. The game was from far over, Rustlers size and strength amongst their forwards really showed up in the box. The halftime score Thunder had the lead 2-0 and Rustlers fought to add to the board. #30 Oba Nassar subs in and within the first minute of his shift he scored to make it 2-1. The physical battle continue but Thunder came out on top and kept their team in the win column.

The One Team Sport Players of the game were #13 Brennan Liebscher for the Rustlers and #9 Emmanuel Mboli for the Thunder. Concordia returns home tomorrow afternoon to take on the Kings' Eagles.
