NAIT Ooks vs SAIT Trojans men’s semifinals
Game 8
The SAIT Trojans and NAIT Ooks men's semifinal opened with intensity from the very first whistle, as NAIT received a yellow card in the opening minute — a sign of the physical battle to come. Both teams brought strong defensive energy early, with Ooks defender #5 Andrii Khymchuk (second year, Ukraine) making several key stops to halt the Trojans' forward pressure. SAIT earned a promising set-piece opportunity in the 18th minute, but a free kick from #23 Rob Woodroffe-Brown (third year, Moose Jaw, Sask.) was turned aside.
Momentum quickly shifted, and NAIT capitalized on its next possession. In the 21st minute, #7 Peter Jones (fourth year, Edmonton, Alta.) broke through the Trojans' back line and found the back of the net, putting the Ooks up 1–0. The physicality continued to escalate as both teams fought for space in tight midfield play. In the 42nd minute, NAIT extended their lead when #9 James Kiezik (second year, Edmonton, Alta.), assisted by Jones, scored to make it 2–0. The Trojans, refusing to fall behind quietly, generated a response before the half, cutting into the deficit and shifting momentum their way. NAIT goalkeeper #29 Parys Ona MacArthur (fifth year, Sherwood Park, Alta.) continued to be sharp, but the teams ultimately headed to the locker rooms with the Ooks leading 2–1.
The second half saw SAIT turn to defensive urgency, with goalkeeper #1 Teo Michelle Greco (second year, Calgary, Alta.) delivering multiple crucial stops to keep the match within reach. NAIT maintained a strong attacking presence, controlling possession and consistently applying pressure in the offensive zone. Despite their build-up play, SAIT's defensive resilience tightened, holding the Ooks from adding to their total and giving the Trojans hope of a late equalizer.
However, NAIT's first-half offensive surge proved enough. With disciplined defending and key saves down the stretch, the Ooks closed out a gritty 2–1 victory to advance to the ACAC championship final. The Trojans, after a resilient battle, now prepare for the bronze medal match and a final opportunity to finish their season on the podium.
