GPRC Fall Short Against The Huskies
Set 1
Keyano Huskies 25 Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves 14 (1-0)
In what was really a nondescript first set with not too many rallies, there were a few wakeups for the Wolves with Huskies veteran 6-foot-6 Justin Delorme (5th year, Business Administration, Winnipeg Manitoba) landing a few BANGOS (spikes) and tips to the empty spaces.
The first time out came with the Wolves getting the nod, down 15-11.
Huskies would go on a quick three-point run with the Wolves again calling for time to chat on the sidelines.
Much to the delights of the Saturday afternoon crowd in attendance at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre's Canadian National Resources Ltd. Gymnasium, setter Randy Popplestone (2nd year, Business Administration, Chestermere, Alberta) faked out the Wolves defence with a second hit dump to open court and winning point.
Set 2
Keyano Huskies 25 Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves 20 (2-0)
Highlight was a successful triple block by Delorme, Levi Bruner (5th year, Welding, Winnipeg Manitoba) and Liam Matheson (5th year, Business Administration, Tauranga, New Zealand) in the early stages.
Wolves' Kirk Testawitch (5th year, University Transfer Arts, Grande Prairie Alberta) kept his team within striking distance with a few kills including a six-pack.
Wolves take a timeout, Huskies with a slim 15-12 edge.
Teams stay even with Delorme scoring the winning point on a kill.
Set 3

A few powerhouse plays by Matheson captured the fans attention early into the set.

A big time one-on-one block Don Campbell (2nd year, Aboriginal Studies, Beauval, Saskatchewan) on Testawitch leads to a Wolves timeout with the Huskies up 12-8.
