Kodiaks spoil Rattlers Temporary home opener
The Lethbridge Kodiaks headed east to take on the Medicine Hat Rattlers in their temporary home as the Snakepit Gets a facelift. The Rattlers looked to recover from the previous nights loss in Lethbridge. Getting off to a quick start both teams traded points with quick side outs from both sides with little sustained rallies. This saw the score climb slowly with little consequence and neither team gaining an advantage. The first multi point run came from the Rattlers late in the set able to go up 3 late. This was short lived as the Kodiaks went on a 4-1 run closing out the first set winning 26-24.
The second set started with the teams trading side outs for the first 4 points each. From here the Kodiaks took over scoring 5 straight to go up 9-4 before the Rattlers finally recovered.starting to chip away slowly getting within a single point down 13-12. Another quick burst from the Kodiaks once again saw their lead restored, increasing the margin to 4, 17-13. Yet again Lethbridge was able to pull further away going up 22-14 before a potential Rattlers injury saw their bench take a timeout to give their player a breather. This did not seem to help as the Kodiaks continued to pull away as they took the second set handily, 25-16
The third set got off to a start reminiscent of set 1. The teams traded side outs and serves and neither team was able to grab a commanding lead early. The Rattlers were able to jump out to a quick 9-6 advantage with the help of 2 straight aces. This lead was quickly erased and the teams were once again tied at 10. With the momentum swinging back in the Kodiaks favor, they were able to quickly mount a 3 point lead of their own going up 14-11. The home side refused to quit. Hanging around, continually trailing, but never far out of it. Never too far but not close enough, the Rattlers fell 25-19 and 3 sets to 0
