Clippers Win in Decisive Fashion Over Trojans During Saturday Rematch

SAIT Trojans had a great start with the first point to them and solid blocking and accurate serves. Briercrest Clippers bounced back with fast kills to put the score at 9-6 for Clippers. They managed to hold the three point lead as Trojans fight to close in. The Trojans missed a volley giving the win to Clippers at 25-22 for the first set.

Into the second set, Clippers gain an immediate kill to open. Trojans fight back to trade shot-forshot into a Time Out for SAIT with the score at 9-7. Three long and exciting volleys with Clippers coming out on top bring score up four points to 13-8. Despite the Clippers run of good kills, Trojans fight hard to bring up their score with good blocking and their own well-aimed kills. However, the Clippers take the second set at 25-17.

The third set opens with back-and-forth points but the Clippers hold their four point lead on the Trojans for most of the game. Clippers leap ahead to 17-9 and a perfect ace from Clipper's #7 gives them the double point lead. Trojans work hard and come together for a series of unified, long volleys, but ultimately the Clippers take the game in the third set with 25-13.

Player of the game was awarded to SAIT's #12 Jon-Atan Da Silva with 8 digs, 10 assists, and 2 blocks, and to Briercrest's #13 Davis Borden for his 3 digs, 7 kills, 1 ace, and 1 block.

Clipper's player of the game had this to say about the game and his team: "The team had a really strong showing this weekend. [They're] feeling good and really starting to unify." When asked what he thought SAIT did really well this game he complimented that "they were able to hold their own and Da Silva [Trojan's player of the game] ran a good offence this weekend."

The Clippers are back in action on Thursday when they play Medicine Hat at home.
