Wolves host KINGS for a Friday night

The GPRC Wolves hosted The Kings University Eagles for a Friday night game. The crowd was entertained with the singing of O'Canada in Cree and English.

The game started close. Both teams exchanged points back and forth for the first 6. Eagles pulled away 9:6 until #9 Tom Wheeler had 2 huge blocks to tie the game back at 9. An outstanding rally between both teams, ends with a point, Kings. Timeout called by GPRC coach Sam Tu'ivai at 17:13 Eagles. Eagles score out of the time out. Back to back aces from GPRC #17 Chad Morrison brings the Wolves within 2. A big block from #9 Tom Wheeler keeps the Wolves alive in the 1st set. It wasn't enough as the Wolves fall 25:23.

2nd set starts off with 2 points to the Eagles. An out of bound serve from the Kings and the Wolves pick up their first point. Back and forth battle to 15 points. The Wolves pull ahead by 4 points and Kings Coach Patrick Winand calls a timeout. Kings score a quick 3 points out of the timeout. GPRC calls a time out, 20:19 Wolves. Net serve at the time out. Wolves up by 2. An ace serve for #17 Chad Morrison puts the Wolves up 23:20, enough for a second Kings timeout. Wolves will win 2nd set 25:21 and the game is tied.

3rd set starts off with 2 points to the Eagles. A net serve from the Kings puts the Wolves on the board. 2:1 Eagles. Wolves return the favour with a net serve. Wolves down by 2. Rising up to put it down, twice in a row, was #10 Josh Dumont and the game is tied. A great rally to 10 by both teams to keep the game tied. Eagles will pull ahead by 2, 14:12, which is enough for the Wolves to call a time out. Wolves take the point out of the time out. Close game to 25.  #11 Ethan Winnicky-Hussey serves the last point and Wolves win 25:21. Wolves take the lead 2-1.

Eagles would rebound in the 4th to come back and win the set 25:19 and tie the game at 2:2.

Not to be stopped they carry on the momentum in the 5th and win 15:13 and win the game 3:2.

Player of the Game for the Eagles was #1 Kaiden Aceron.

Player of the Game for the Wolves was #10 Josh Dumont.
