The Player of the game was awarded to Lethbridge Kodiak's Jackson Goehring #24 with 4 digs and  13 kills, and the Briercrest Clipper's Karym Coleman #11 for his 17 kills, 1 ace, and 1 block.

Goehring had this to say after the game on how they were able to pull out the win after the first set: "In the first set we weren't able to overcome our errors. We'd make an error and they'd get a  serving run. It was hard to pass with the low roof, but after, we were able to pull out the second  set and limit our errors."

From Briercrest, Coleman had this to say for the team: "Even though we got the win, it wasn't a  good win—it was still too close—we weren't playing Briercrest volleyball. And it showed after  that set that for some reason it seemed like something was missing or our man wasn't there."  When asked about coming off of the winter break, Coleman said, "I don't believe in blaming  'it's the first game back,' we just weren't mentally ready to play." But looking forward to the  rematch on Saturday: "if we can capitalise on those we should be better tomorrow."
