Vikings swept by Rustlers in season series

CAMROSE, AB - in a quick match, the Augustana Vikings lose 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-13) to the visiting Lakeland Rustlers, Saturday night at Augustana Gym.

With the win, the Rustlers have now won their last three matches and swept the Vikings in their season series.

Meanwhile, the Vikings extend their losing streak to seven games, but still remain two points ahead of the last place Concordia Thunder.

In a strong start, that saw both teams exchanging points, however, it was the visiting side that garnered the most momentum to take the first set, 25-20.

In a burst of offense, the Rustlers held on to their momentum in the second set, shooting ahead to win the set, 25-16, and put the Vikings on their back foot.

Looking to stay in the game, the Vikings still could not find any kind of momentum in the third set as the Rustlers cruised to a 25-13 set and match win.

Looking ahead, the Vikings will look to bounce back next weekend as they take on the Concordia Thunder in a home-and-home series. Meanwhile, the Rustlers will host the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves in a two-game series.
