Ooks Defeat Huskies at Home

The NAIT Ooks were back in action tonight against the Keyano Huskies in the second game of a three-game homestand. After the Ooks took a 3-0 win last night, the Huskies were ready to show them what they were made of. Ultimately, the Ooks stood victorious, winning 3-2.

The first set was close, but the NAIT Ooks pulled ahead thanks to a service ace from Karter Godin; this started the shift in momentum, allowing the Ooks to keep the pressure on. Keyano came back to keep the game close, but the Ooks pulled ahead once more to win 25-20.

Keyano started the second set strong, getting a few points up on the Ooks. The Ooks caught up, but after three consecutive outside calls against them, the Huskies pulled ahead. The Huskies were blocking out the Ooks for most of the set. This worked to their advantage as they finally won a set 25-18.

The third set was a battle between the teams. They were in a deadlock even score for the first 10 points before the Ooks pulled ahead by two. Keyano came back from behind to go ahead. It was a true back and forth set. It was tied right up until the end, but Keyano won 29-27 to pull ahead 2-1.

The fourth set was the same story. Both teams came to play tonight, and it showed on the court. It was tied the entire set. The Ooks needed to pull ahead to take the game to a fifth set, and you could tell by their intensity. Carter Hills had a few beautiful hits to help the Ooks stay in the game, but he gave up a service error at the 20-point mark to lose the Ooks one-point lead late in the set. The Ooks came back and won 28-30 in the fourth. The game is tied at two each.

The fifth set followed suit with the rest of the game. Both teams came to play, but the Ooks pulled ahead by three early in the set. The Huskies came back to keep it close, but the Ooks pulled ahead again. The NAIT Ooks won 15 9 in the fifth set to win the game 3-2.

Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 3:00 PM for the last game in this series.
