Trojans bounce back after slow start, advance to next round of post-season

CALGARY, ALTA., (March 4, 2022) - The SAIT Trojans men's volleyball team needed a bit of a jolt.

After losing the first set, the Trojans responded with three straight set wins to beat the visiting Lethbridge College Kodiaks 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 29-27, 25-14) in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) playoff game played inside SAIT's Campus Centre.

SAIT, the third seed in the ACAC's South Division, will now advance to a Sunday matchup with the top-ranked Red Deer Polytechnic Kings. SAIT and Red Deer played three times in the regular season with the Trojans taking two of those contests.

Lethbridge College sees their season come to an end.

The Trojans were led offensively by the duo of Ryan Zachary and Mitchell Newman, who each recorded 15 kills in the match. Teammate Filip Florek worked hard on both sides of the net, carding 10 kills and six blocks.

Nolan Moes paced the Kodiaks with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Florek and Moes were named the Players of the Game.
