RDP Kings engineer comeback to top Huskies in five sets

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Men's Volleyball team extended their winning streak to four games in style, shaking off a two-sets-to-one deficit to win in five sets (25-20, 17-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-13) against the Keyano Huskies Friday at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta.

After the Huskies shook off a deficit of their own, losing the first set, the Kings took back control of the match with wins in the fourth and fifth sets with their winning streak hanging in the balance.

Colby Nemeth had 15 kills and Brett Lower had 13 to account for the top two offensive options for the visitors. A 33-assist effort from Jacob Hicks also featured five digs and a pair of blocks. Jonathan Graham had nine digs to earn Player of the Game honours for his side.

Lower also added 10 digs, three aces, and a pair of blocks.

Trey Weinmeier led the Huskies with 14 kills, one ahead of a 13-kill effort from Joao Cunha. Athus Silva picked up 10 kills in the middle.

Noah Gagne had a 27-assist effort in the setter position while Matthew Rapin had 13 in extended playing time for the second year. Rapin would take home Player of the Game honours for his side in the loss.
