Men's Volleyball Huskies sweep away Vikings

The Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball team swept away their competition Friday night at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta., topping the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings in straight sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-22). 

Radek Brzozowski and Trey Weinmeier teamed up for 10 kills each throughout the match, with Brzozowski's 10th of the night capping off the victory in the third set. Cameron Visscher added seven more and four each from Carter Bragg and Athus Silva made for a tough night on the court for the visiting Vikings. Brzozowski also led the Huskies with six digs and seven aces in the match.

When their opportunities came to attack, Silva stepped up with four blocks throughout the match to best his opponents. 

Devon Nazarchuk led his side with eight kills while Jonah Vander Leek and Ricky Birkill were both the next highest at three each. Calder Thompson finished with 17 assists while Nazarchuk led the team's dig battle with seven, one ahead of teammate Bryce Boan. 

Both Noah Gagné and Nikola Sreckovic handled setting duties for the Huskies Friday, with the pair earning 12 assists each. 

Brzozowski and Nazarchuk were both recognized as Players of the Game for their efforts in Friday's match. 

The two sides will face each other in a rematch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. The game will be available on ACAC TV and Telus Optik 1998.
