MVB| Kodiaks Show No Remorse After Dropping 1st Set to Rattlers and Secure the Final Home Game of the Season 3-1
February 3, 2023 – The Kodiaks looked to win 3 straight as they faced off against Highway 3 rivals, the Medicine Hat Rattlers in the final home game of the regular season.
The Kodiaks looked to come out the gate hot to start off the match looking to get a head start but ran into trouble when the Kodiaks struggled to break through the Rattlers wall up at the net which set them back. The Kodiaks attempted to jump back ahead and managed to tie the set back up mid-way through but ran into more difficulties as they had 8 services errors in the set which would be their kryptonite as they were unable to catch back up to the Rattlers as they dropped the 1st set 25-19.
The Kodiaks were able to work out some of the kinks that restricted them in the 1st set and were able to jump ahead in the 2nd set and maintain their lead, shifting the pressure onto the Rattlers as they looked for a way to get back in the set. The Kodiaks were able to fight off the Rattlers and claim the 2nd set in demanding fashion to tie the match up at 1 set a piece, taking the 2nd set 25-16.
The Kodiaks maintained their momentum throughout the 3rd set, building a strong lead right from the start leaving the Rattlers chasing the whole set. Kodiaks Adam Revet played a big factor in the Kodiaks success in the 3rd set as he earned 5 kills to inch the Kodiaks closer to victory as they went up 2 sets to 1 after taking the 3rd set 25-14.
The Kodiaks built themselves another demanding lead right at the start of 4th set to set the tone, making it as difficult as they can for the Rattlers to find a way to close the gap on the Kodiaks. Lethbridge refused to let off the throttle, putting Medicine Hat through the ringer and showing no mercy and the Kodiaks breezed through the set closing it 25-10 securing the final win at Val Matteotti for the season 3 sets to 1.
