Men's Volleyball Huskies top Clippers in four sets

The Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball team topped the visiting Briercrest College Clippers in a four-set (25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16) battle to secure the second spot in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's (ACAC) North Divison.

Joao Cunha of the Huskies and Karym Coleman of the Clippers traded 15-kill performances for their respective sides. The Huskies got valuable offensive performances from two of their graduating class members in Trey Weinmeier and Cameron Visscher, who had nine and seven kills respectively. Athus Silva contributed six kills while finishing tied for the team lead with three blocks.

The Huskies made quick work of the first set, but gave up the early lead to the Clippers in the second set. After some heated battles in the third set, the Huskies pulled ahead for good and closed things out in the fourth set.

Jackson Anderson and Noah Dirsten recorded six and five kills respectively for the Clippers.

With the win, the Huskies ensured they'll finish in second place in the ACAC's North Division, ensuring a first-round matchup against the third-seeded team from the ACAC's South Division at the 2023 ACAC Men's Volleyball Championships Presented by Elite Sports Marketing.

Anderson and Visscher were named the Players of the Game for their respective sides.

The Huskies will close out their regular season schedule with an 8:00 p.m. date against the Medicine Hat Rattlers Saturday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta.
