Rustlers finish with win against Briercrest

Lakeland's men's volleyball team had the program's best semester in years, winning seven of eight matches.

The Rustlers hosted Briercrest, a team also locked into 4th place in their respective division. Early on, Lakeland held momentum, getting key blocks against the Clippers lead attacker Karym Coleman and winning 25-19. A more competitive second set went into extras, with the Rustlers winning 27-25.

Briercrest responded in the third, hitting a high percentage and applying steady service pressure, winning 25-15. In the fourth, the Rustlers bounced back to gain a lead and were able to hold on until the 25-22 victory.

Mason Short and Gabe Bjorkas each had 12 kills and Lane Blight's strong setting earned him the POG honours. Brady Watchel earned the nod for the Clippers.

Lakeland is now 9-1 in the team's last 10. Next for the Rustlers is a home playoff matchup against the NWP Wolves on Feb. 18. The winner will move on to the ACAC Championship.
