Men's Volleyball TKU Eagles v. NAIT Ooks

On January 17, the King's University Eagles Men's volleyball team took on NAIT Polytechnic Ooks at 8:00 p.m. in the King's University gymnasium. 

 

In the first set, the Ooks started the match with exceptional communication and quickly took control of the first set. Chris Rooker led the charge with three aces and a kill, while Finn Howard added two kills and a block. Joel Nickle had a strong contribution with two kills and three aces, and Mason Gorski added an ace and a block. Josh Watson also impressed with a kill and two aces. The Eagles fought hard but struggled to find their rhythm, with Tyler Fredlund contributing a great kill, Landon Roznowski serving up a solid ace, Brodie Schutz delivering a block, and Spencer Mayerle adding a key kill. Despite these efforts, the Ooks took the set comfortably, winning 25-11.

 

In the second set, the Eagles rallied and evened the match with a 25-19 victory. Tino Kwatara played a key role for the Eagles with an ace and two kills. Brodie Schutz delivered a crucial ace, and Spencer Mayerle followed up with an ace and two great kills. Tyler Fredlund added another solid kill, while Landon Roznowski contributed two important kills. Hudson Forsberg also made an impact with an ace and a kill. Despite strong performances from Josh Watson (two kills and a tip-point) and Joel Nickle (two kills and an ace) for the Ooks, the Eagles pulled away to win the set and tie the match.

 

In the third set, it was an intense battle, with both teams exchanging powerful attacks and great defensive plays. The Ooks managed to edge out the Eagles 28-26 in a thrilling finish. Mason Gorski made a key save and kill, while Joel Nickle had a standout performance with four kills and two aces. Josh Watson added an ace, kill, and block, and Xander Van Driel contributed a kill and an ace. Chris Rooker also added three kills, and Finn Howard provided a strong kill for the Ooks. The Eagles fought hard, with Brodie Schutz delivering a kill and a block, Landon Roznowski adding three kills, Titus Acson contributing an ace and a kill, and Tino Kwatara also scoring a key kill. Despite their efforts, the Eagles were narrowly defeated in a dramatic finish.

 

In the fourth and final set, the Ooks sealed the match with a 25-14 victory. Kaden Bennett contributed two great kills, while Xander Van Driel added two kills and a block. Joel Nickle played a pivotal role with a kill, ace, and block, and Mason Gorski delivered a key kill. The Eagles continued to fight, with Landon Roznowski scoring a tip-point and a kill, Hudson Forsberg adding a tip-point, and Tino Kwatara contributing a kill. However, the Ooks' consistent play proved too much, and they finished the set strong to claim the win.

 

With high liveliness in the gym's atmosphere, both teams did a fantastic hardworking job in today's game.
