Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens capture first at Running Room Grand Prix #2
Red Deer, AB (February 14, 2026) - Both the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings (59 points) and Queens (63 points) used the familiarity of their home track to finish first at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Indoor Track Running Room Grand Prix #2. Their strong performances set the tone for a competitive meet that saw Lethbridge Polytechnic and Concordia University round out the top three in the team standings. The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks Women's team (46 points) solidified second and the Concordia University Thunder Women's team (29 points) wrapped up third. The Thunder Men's team (48 points) was second, and the Kodiaks Men's team (34 points) placed third.
Momentum continued to build throughout the individual events. Ethan Grasmeyer (9:39.51) of the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks led the men over 3,000 m. SAIT's Nathan Woyessa (2:35.59) was first in the men's 1,000 m and Alexai Fadeyim (1:25.06) captured first in the 600 m. Concordia's Owen Stewart (4:14.25) had the fastest time in the men's 1,500 m.
RDP's Julianna Chipiuk (11:12.88) delivered a strong performance to win the women's 3,000 m. Cadence Laplante (3:14.61) of St. Mary's University led the women's 1,000 m. Concordia's Ashlee Walker (1:37.47) won the women's 600 m. Khloe Jankowiak (5:12.47) of the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks sealed first in the women's 1,500 m.
Relay events brought additional excitement to the event. The Medicine Hat College Rattlers Men's 4 x 200 m relay team (1:38.84) took top spot. The Concordia University Thunder men (3:44.32) solidified first in the 4 x 400 m relay. The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks (1:52.09) won the women's 4 x 200 m relay. They (4:17.39) also captured first in the 4 x 400 m relay.
With Grand Prix #2 now complete, attention shifts south as the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks prepare to host Running Room Grand Prix #3 on Saturday, February 28, at 8 a.m.
