Trojans Hand Lightning Second Loss of the Weekend

November 19th, 2016…Calgary- The SAIT Trojans defeated the St. Mary's University Lightning in Calgary Saturday night by a score of 68-55.

 The Trojans hand the Lightning their second loss of the weekend after Friday night's 80-59 loss to Lethbridge.
 
The Lightning had control of the first quarter, going on a 10 point run before SAIT was able to respond off a free-throw, ending the first quarter with St. Mary's sitting with a comfortable 18-7 lead.
 
The Trojans however, were not going down without a fight against the nationally ranked Lightning. SAIT outscored the Lightning in the second, ending the half trailing 28-20 to start the third.
 

The tables turned in the third, with SAIT coming up with a big third quarter to take the lead and control of the game. The Trojans third quarter run proved to be the turning point in the game, as they continued to shut the Lightning down in the fourth, playing to an eventual 68-55 win.

 
With the loss, the Lightning now drop to 4-3 on the season, while the SAIT Trojans move to 5-1.
 

SAIT's Alicia Tan (4th year, Business, Calgary) came up big for the Trojans, netting 19 points, while sister Alexa Tan (1st year, Business, Calgary) added 14.

 

Mary-Jean Ritchie (5th year, Education, Calgary) netted 10 points for the Lightning and put up seven rebounds, while Sydney Deighton (3rd year, General Studies, Calgary) added 10 more.
