LIONS FALL TO HIGHLY TALENTED LETHBRIDGE SQUAD

It was a tough night for the Ambrose Lions as they took on the CCAAs' 4th ranked team in the country. Lethbridge jumped out to an 8-2 lead to start the 1st quarter and never looked back.

Capitalizing on steals as well as strong offensive rebounding, the Kodiaks asserted their dominance from tip-off to the final whistle.   By halftime, the Kodiaks led by a balanced attack (which by the end of the night saw 4 players scoring double digit points) increased their lead to 50-16.  The Lions tried to cut into the lead with a small run in the 3rd quarter led by Catarina Dimonekene and Julie Mireles but the lead too great to overcome as the Kodiaks went on to win 90-49.

The players of the game were #8 – Sunder West, scoring 22 points for the Kodiaks and for the Lions #6 – Catherine Montes as she scored a team high 20 points for the Lions.

After the game Coach Mortis complemented the Kodiaks on their strong play and indicated he was more than content with how his team played despite the lopsided score.  "I liked the fact that there was no quit in the girls, the girls kept going, I thought they had a better 2nd half than the 1st half, so we will take this as a learning experience and a practice for us getting ready for the other teams."

The Lions will strive to use the lessons learned in their next game vs. Red Deer in the Lion's Den on Friday, November 25th
