Saturday afternoon game means a game versus the Briercrest College Clippers. One team was looking for better result and the other team was trying to improve their potential playoff position. Clipper Women fell short on Friday night losing in OT. Just like the night before, the Clippers had a nine point lead before the Lightning the hard scored their initial two points. It felt like it was going to be a long afternoon for St. Mary's.
CLipper Women were lead by Adrianna Beck (23 points) and Victoria Voth (18 points). They never collaspsed and held the lead throughout the match. Lightning were again lead by their two leading scorers Hannah Helton (25 points) and Emily Wagner (21).
The surprising Briercrest Women Basketball came away with a 82-75 victory.
ACAC Players of the Game Victoria Voth (BC) and Sydney Deighton (StMU). Deighton had also played her 100th game in ACAC and St. Mary's uniform.
The Briercrest Women (7-8) play Medicine Hat College (14-2) on February 1st and 2nd. St. Mary's (10-6) play rival SAIT Polytechnic (4-11) on Thursday January 31st at SAIT. On Saturday February 2nd they return the favor at Glenmore Christian Academy. St. Mary's host their 'Make a noise for Mental Health' game. Both games are at 6pm.
