WBB | Kodiaks Fall to the Clippers

February 16, 2019 - The Lethbridge Kodiaks competed in another close game against the Briercrest Clippers in their final home game.

The Clippers started out strong with a three pointer from Adrianna Beck. They came on the court with a will to dominate.

Briercrest took the lead, but the Kodiaks were not far behind. Lethbridge managed to match Briercrests score in the last two seconds of the first quarter with an amazing three pointer from Juhee Anderson, closing out the quarter with a score of 21-21.

It did not take long for the Clippers to take the lead once again in the second quarter as they maintained possession of the ball and took advantage of every mistake the Kodiaks made.

Both teams kept their ambitions high fighting for every ball they could get their hands on, as they wanted to represent their potential on the court. The Clippers attained the lead closing out the second quarter with a score of 41-31.

As the players entered the third quarter, the Clippers first year Amber Tilcox led her team with ten points, while Kodiaks fourth year, Juhee Anderson led her team with sixteen points.

The Clippers advanced their lead in third quarter as the Kodiaks continued to fall behind, trying to get ahold of the ball to make any successful offensive plays. Unfortunately, the Kodiaks could not figure out their shooting especially on their foul shots. This gave the Clippers a lengthy lead.

The Kodiaks were unable to gain control of the ball before the end of the third quarter, as the Clippers maintained their lead with a score of 58-43.

The Kodiaks managed to start closing the gap in the fourth quarter, but the Clippers still kept a firm grip on their lead.

The gap continued to close, making the Clippers nervous, forcing their head coach Danny Vincent to call a time-out and regroup before returning onto the court for the last two minutes of the game.

The last two minutes were very comparable to Friday's game as the Kodiaks turned up the heat and narrowed the score, however the only difference in Saturday's game was the fact that the Kodiaks couldn't find that last three pointer to upset the Clippers once again.

The Clippers took home the win of of the last game of the season with a score of 68-65 advancing to 9-10, as the Kodiaks fall to 13-6.
