Rustlers defeat Eagles 73-49

The Lakeland faced The King's University Eagles on Friday, November 1st. The Rustlers were coming off a weekend split against the NAIT Ooks while the Eagles were looking to get back in the win column after dropping two games to the Augustana Vikings. It was a physical game from the start with players from each team picking up quick fouls. The teams shot a combined 18 free throws on 12 fouls in the first quarter. After 10 minutes of play the Rustlers led 16-14. It was a defensive battle in the second quarter as both teams locked in. Neither team put many points on the board, with the Rustlers maintaining their two-point lead at half, 26-24. The third quarter was all Rustlers as they came out and blew the game open, outscoring the Eagles 27-11. Rustlers 4th-year guard Angela Baran helped lead pace Lakeland in the quarter scoring 9 points on 4-6 shooting. Heading into the fourth quarter the Eagles found themselves trailing to the Rustlers 53-35. The Eagles made a push in the fourth quarter but could not overcome the deficit they had built in the third quarter. The Rustlers would end up closing the game out with a final score of 73-46. The win for the Rustlers improves their record on the season to 2-1, while the Eagles drop to 2-3. The player of the game for The King's University Eagles was #6, Kenna Jacobson. The player of the game for the Lakeland Rustlers was #12, Angela Baran.
