A master of strategy, psych and motivation, tonight, perhaps more so than in recent games, is Keyano Huskies Coach Dwayne Vigilance's game to be won or lost...not on the scoreboard mind you.

Keyano Huskies 25  Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves 6

1st Period

With six rookies and six 2nd year players, the Wolves are drawn in early into a running match. Lots of unforced turnovers with four for each team in opening minutes,

A full court outlet from Aliyah Johnson (5'7" Guard 4th Business Fort McMurray Alberta) to Moiyan Toure (6' Post 4th Early Childhood Education Edmonton Alberta) for the catch, spin and cushion off the backboard gives the Huskies 13-4 advantage, forcing Wolves coach Bill Bradley to call timeout.

With the clock approaching 60 seconds, gunner Kaleigh Sellers (5'6" Guard 3rd Business Admin  St. John's Nfld) finds twine time for her 13th three-pointer of the season. She will follow up with No. 14 a few seconds later.

She has nine points with three bombs.

Teammate Johnson leads the scoring parade with 12 points. Huskies secure 15 points off the bench.

2nd Period

Knowing that this – statistically – could be a 100 point-spread in favour of the Huskies, Vigilance goes to the bench.

But to be a championship team the bench must perform. Things are not mixing well.

Back to a balanced lineup the Huskies fine their pace and with a Joy Victor (5'7" Guard 3rd Business Admin British Virgin Islands) buzzer beater, to go up 27 at halftime.

Not surprisingly 23 of those points are off of turnovers.

Wolves show hustle with seven offensive boards which is tough to do against a team like the Huskies.

3rd Period

Huskies milking the shot clock to open third period.

Sellers hits a few more...yes more....three pointers.

A Clarissa Bird hoop (5'9" Guard, 1st, Education, Black River First Nation, Manitoba) gives the Huskies a 59-20 lead, forcing a Wolves timeout.

It is Bird's first points of the 2019-2020 ACAC Regular Season.

Wolves close on a solid note with back-to-back layups Jayden Demchuk and Jeannie Borger.

Victor shows why she is nicknamed "The Verticality" with a few high flyin' layups and rebounds.

4th Period

No descript final period. A nice runner by Wolves' Borger kissing off the backboard. Wolves starting to outlet better on the break. Wolves hit their only three of the game with Carly Rombs receiving applause and cheers from her teammates.

Home Hardware/Boston Pizza Player of the Games for Huskies is No. 6 Kaleigh Sellers with 19 points.  Victor also strong showing with 17 points, 7 boards, 5 steals.

For the Wolves the nod goes to No.12  Jeannie Borger with  14 points
