EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the Augustana Vikings to Edmonton on Friday night to open their two game weekend series. The Thunder used a strong second half to pull away with the win, 68-54.
The first quarter was a defensive battle, with both teams playing low-scoring basketball, but the Thunder managed a way to find the basket and take a 14-10 lead after the first. The second quarter saw things open up a bit more, but the Thunder maintained their lead and entered halftime with a 30-26 lead. The Thunder offense got going in the third quarter, however, as they started to pull away from the Vikings and took a 47-41 lead into the third quarter. They carried this momentum into the fourth quarter, as the Thunder once again extended their lead, and taking the game by a 68-54 final.
The Thunder and Vikings meet again tomorrow night, with Augustana looking to even the score on their home court.
The Kahunaverse players of the game were #5 Tegan MacKinnon for the Vikings and #13 Leah Piekema for the Thunder.
