The Vertical Goes Sky High in W

Keyano College Huskies Cheerleading squad made their debut tonight at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre as the Keyano Huskies hosted the Lakeland College Rustlers in women's basketball action.

Last time the two teams met, the Rustlers won on their home court down Lloydminster-way by scores of 64-57 and 67-63.

Coming into the contest, both teams are at 10 wins and 2 losses in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference regular season action.

Will the Huskies and their fans have something to cheer about?

Huskies haunted by countless unforced turnovers in the opening frame as the Rustlers go up 18-8 after 10 minutes.

It took Huskies more than six minutes to score their first field goal with Kaitlyn de Sousa Martins hitting a layup.

Rustlers start to fast break in the second period to go up 27-17. Huskies shooting a dismal 7-of-31 from the field.

It is in the final minutes of regulation that the Huskies come alive and wakens the crowd with the hustle of "The Vertical" No. 10 Joy Victor.

The rookie leads the home side to a W 49-47 in what was a rather hectic and confusing conclusion.

Victor is Huskies Player of the Game with a team high 14 points and 8 boards. Bilge Topaloglu has eight points and seven boards for POG status for Lakeland.
