The 2019 ACAC champions take on the Concordia Thunder to kick off the 2021 season in their home gym at Lakeland College in Lloydminster, Alberta. Zaya Black started in her first game as a 1st-year guard for the Lakeland Rustlers for Alana Olson who is injured. The Thunder and the Rustlers were neck and neck in the first quarter, finishing the quarter with the rustlers in the lead 25-14. The Thunder kept fighting back in the second quarter and had 8 points drained by #3 Brooke Froment. The Rustlers kept pushing and ended the quarter with a three-point buzzer-beater by #5 Tori Dugan finishing off the half 47-37 for the Rustlers. The thunder came back swinging in the second half, however, the Rustlers kept pushing through to finish the game 83-64. The players of the game were #9 Kaelyn Bryks off the Thunder finishing with 14 points and #5 Tori Dugan finishing with 28 points from the Lakeland Rustlers.
