WBB| Queens Came Back for Revenge as Kodiaks Fell on Home Turf

November 14, 2021- Kodiaks were back in action after a long season of no competition. Prepared to take on the Queens after a big win on Friday.

The Queens came into the first quarter with revenge on their minds, surpassing the skills that of the Kodiaks. Queens forward, #11 Lauren France achieved 10 points of her own only progressing the Queens lead finishing out the quarter.

#10 Meja Lundberg, forward for the Queens moved with confidence on the court, making plays happen and draining the ball. One of the Kodiak rookies, #9 Courtney Deemter made herself known as she demonstrated her confidence and dedication for the team. The Queens did not give up their lead though, as they headed into the third quarter with a score of 44-36.

In the third quarter #11 Kirsten Barwegen did what she does best, hitting the boards hard and getting rebounds on both sides for her team. #7 Montana Berezay showed up and scored 2 threes in a row to bring the Kodiaks within a few points of the Queens. With #9 Courtney Deemter playing hard on defence, and sinking clutch free throws. Queens #11 kept her game-long hot streak going with 2 more threes in a row to bring the Queens up by 8 with a minute left. Kodiaks fifth year #4 Matlin Jacobs scored a clutch 3-pointer with a minute left, followed up by a huge steal. #9 Courtney Deemter drained it with 20 seconds left to bring it to 68-72. Unfortunately for the Kodiaks though, the RDP Queens couldn't seem to miss the basket, and the game ended at a score of 68-75.
